📖 About this Book
Ash is an out-of-work actress whose life feels as though it is going nowhere, until she lands an extraordinary job at Retro, an ultra-luxury company offering recreational time travel.
As a Time Travel Agent, Ash escorts wealthy clients on extravagant trips into the past, from the Wild West to 1930s Los Angeles. At first, the job feels like the escape she desperately needed. But strange changes begin appearing in her memories and relationships, and Ash starts to suspect that Retro may be hiding something much more disturbing beneath its glamorous surface.
Clever, funny and slightly unsettling, Retro mixes speculative fiction, workplace satire, romance and questions about nostalgia, identity and whether the past is really somewhere we should want to return to.
❤️ Why Sumaia Recommends It
★★★★☆
This is such an interesting concept for readers who like literary fiction with something unusual added to it. I love the idea of exploring our obsession with nostalgia through actual time travel, while still keeping the story character-driven, funny and a little dark.
It feels perfect for anyone who wants speculative fiction without heavy world-building, with enough mystery and romance to keep things moving.
