๐ About this Book
Otoha Higuchi loves books, but her exhausting job at a chain bookstore has left her frustrated and ready to quit. Then she receives a mysterious invitation to work at The Night Library, an unusual library on the outskirts of Tokyo that only opens from seven in the evening until midnight.
The library houses collections connected to deceased authors, including the books they wrote, the books that inspired them, and the books they loved. Nothing can be borrowed. Instead, the collections are displayed almost like a literary museum. books.
At the library, Otoha finds a group of fellow book lovers and begins sharing nightly meals prepared by the libraryโs chef, with dishes inspired by literature. But when strange events threaten the future of the library, Otoha and her new friends are forced to ask what books, work, and belonging really mean to them.ย

โค๏ธ Why Sumaia Recommends It
A lovely choice for readers who adore quiet Japanese fiction, unusual libraries, bookish settings, and stories about finding your place.
I especially like the idea of a library built around the personal reading lives of authors. It gives the story such a warm, intimate feeling, and the shared meals make it even cozier. This feels like the kind of book to read slowly with coffee, preferably while pretending your responsibilities have temporarily ceased to exist. Humanity can dream.
